Balam combines anatolian and middle eastern music with modern, electronic sounds. Born a second-generation migrant in Germany, she grew up embracing the tension between cultures, leading to a style which she calls Gurbetçi Müzik meets Darbuka Disko. Driven by the music of her childhood, heard everywhere from small kitchen radios to wedding bands, she takes her audience for a musical ride, choosing a contemporary viewpoint on the music of past generations.
