Balam's "Eskilerden" – which literally means "from the old ones" – brings the sounds and melodies of the past into the present. In her show, Balam presents Turkish music that her grandparents and parents used to listen to, which is still played at weddings and celebrations today, and is known from old Turkish films. Experience the tunes of well-known folk songs and "Gurbetçi" songs, written and sung by Turkish migrant workers in Germany in the 60s and 70s. These songs tell stories of a longing for home, the hardships of labor, everyday racism they faced in Germany, and the sense of uprootedness. Though these songs are old, they hold great relevance today, especially for those who are visibly migrant in Germany, offering many points of connection and identification. silent green presents: LAKE [sandbox] (@lake.errors) marks the first edition of LAKE. It is conceived as an open environment for testing ideas and exploring collective listening through live electronic and audiovisual performance. Borrowing the term from computing, a sandbox describes a space where systems can be experimented with freely. In this edition, artists share the same space and develop the session together in real time, shaping sound, voice, electronics and image through attentive listening. The selection captures the diversity and intensity of the festival, spanning experimental music, performance, sound art, and club-informed practices. Based in Basel and shaped by an international artistic network, FOG continues to operate as a platform for hybrid formats and interdisciplinary exchange. Through this collaboration, the festival extends beyond its temporal and physical boundaries, transforming sound into an active archive and inviting listeners to re-enter FOG through listening.
