REGIONALE 25 // Opening “And if we stand still long enough“ Kunstverein Freiburg

    • Arts
    • Music
REGIONALE 25 And if we stand still long enough 30 Nov 2024 – 6 Jan 2025 When we feel overwhelmed, unsure of the right approach or appropriate reaction, or even when inner restlessness and discontent become difficult to endure, we tend to come to a standstill. It is as if the outside goes on moving whilst the inside remains static – when a situation renders us motionless, escaping reality seems logical. What responsibility do we bear for that which does not happen? When does waiting become resignation? And what happens when we stand still for long enough? The exhibition explores personal and collective feelings of helplessness. A variety of artistic practices open up perspectives on individual and social challenges, on how behavioural patterns can be altered and new narratives can emerge. They negotiate the urgency of breaking out of a state of standstill, the struggle with feelings of powerlessness and the need to bring about change. The Regionale is an annual group exhibition developed in the context of a cross-border cooperation of 18 institutions in Germany, France, and Switzerland with a focus on local contemporary art production in the three-country region around Basel. Artists: Zoe Baranek, Milo Berger, Lizz Keller, Julius Martin-Humpert, Estéfana Román Matesanz, Jonas Müller-Ahlheim, Max Pospiech, Sertaç Özdemir, Basil Studer Curator: Marilena Raufeisen Image: Jonas Müller-Ahlheim, reachy richie, 2023
