    Deep dreams and analog zombies

Ephraim Wegner, Thomas Wenk and Daniel Bisig combine digital and analogue technologies in installations, compositions and collaborative improvisations. In the radio show "Deep Dreams and Analog Zombies" they present some of their recent works and talk about the technical and compositional principles involved. E. Wegner will present two compositions "Acuter Swim" & "A Piece of Music for Human and Object Movements" using a digital instrument that combines a physical model of a sounding sphere with the playback of soundfiles using a granular synthesis approach. The instrument is being developed for IDM (Ideosyncratic Dance Machine) and draws heavily on the previous work called Puppeteering Al. It is partially controlled by body movements based on motion-capturing recordings by Marcella Centenero. Both the pre-recorded audio and the motion-capturing data are reorganised into clusters that describe different qualities that emerge from the original materials. The audio clusters relate to the spatial movement trajectories by mapping their characteristics onto the coordinates of a sphere surrounding the virtual dancer. The next piece "TAPE DECLARATION" is by T. Wenk. Focusing on the sounds of cassette recorders, such as pressing the buttons, rewinding or fast-forwarding a tape, or using the play function in combination with different playback speeds, he will generate a live piece of music or non-music. The final improvisation is a live presentation of the previously released title "Analog Zombies in Deep Dreams" (DEGEM CD 23), in which the artists build a bridge from analogue media of the last century to the current possibilities of machine learning. For this purpose, the technical sounds of cassette recorders were processed by a machine learning-based approach called Deep Dream. Deep Dream audio is an adaption by D. Bisig and E. Wegner of the Deep Dream image processing method. The method employs a neural network that has been trained to classify the operating and running noises of cassette recorders. This network can be used to create new sound material. In an initially noisy signal, the acoustic properties are iteratively amplified, to which selected network layers respond with high activity. Roberto Maqueda - Fade out was a genre... Episode 5

    • Ambient
Fade out was a genre… Episode (5) – mitospora by Roberto Maqueda Experience Episode 5 of Fade out was a genre…, a monthly experimental radio show curated and performed live by experimental artist Roberto Maqueda for GATEKEEPER Radio. This special edition features mitospora, Roberto’s club-focused alias, in a live set recorded at CDCR (Chengdu Community Radio) on August 24th, 2025. Captured in the heart of Chengdu’s vibrant underground scene, this performance marks the final chapter of his 2025 Asia Tour — a month-long journey across cities, clubs, and experimental spaces throughout the continent. Compared to previous studio sessions, this set leans further into modular synth interconnectivity. LFO chains take center stage, pushing grooves in and out of phase, generating micro-instabilities and drifting pulses. Rhythm remains central, yet in constant flux — guided more by momentum than by grid. The result is a high-velocity exploration of tension and propulsion, navigating club-oriented architectures through raw sonic gestures and fractured time. Controlled chaos. Friction. Forward motion. Live recording at CDCR (Chengdu Community Radio), China (August 24th, 2025). Special thanks to the CDCR crew for the energy and warmth — a perfect finale to an intense month on the road.

SOUTHERN REVERB - Symi // Islas

    • Ambient
Islas is a live set in advance of my upcoming album. A modern, electronic, and metaphorical odyssey through the Greek islands (Crete, Kythera, Syros, Euboia and Symi). The Argentine artist Fernanda Flores, aka Symi, is a musician, composer, producer and teacher. She studied classical guitar and viola at the Conservatory of the City of Buenos Aires and jazz guitar in a parallel and private way. Currently, she teaches composition and musical experimentation classes and workshops, produces different artists, composes soundtracks for audiovisual projects and is a member of the psychedelic electro pop band "Costas." From 2017 to 2025, she has released eight albums with her project: "CR", "CR450", "CR570", "CR 350", "TR 36000/2","B1", "Botanikη" and "Litorales" . Since 2021, she has been part of the Amplify D.A.I. program as a sound experimenter. the British Council initiative aimed at promoting the professional development of people who identify as women. With this program, she completed her first collaborative artistic residency with the Brazilian visual artist Keila Sankofa. The resulting work, "Presente das Presenças", was presented in March 2022 at the MAPA Contemporary Art, at the Amplify Occupation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Mutek 2022 Festival in Montreal and in Mutek Argentina of the same year. Her lastests performances were at ArteBA, Mutek 2023,Experimentalia Cordoba 2023 and Experimental Rosario 2024. Symi is the project of Fernanda Flores, experimental electronic music, which through concrete and electronic sound synthesis seeks to capture emotional environments. With their five released albums CR 350, CR 450, CR 570, T 36000/2 Botanikη and Litorales they form a sextet that oscillates between atmospheric and ambient noise and the danceable hypnotism of trance.
